Joshua Marks Obituary

Joshua James Marks, 54, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away at home on February 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Josh was born on December 11, 1971, in Zanesville, Ohio, to James Russell Marks and Mary Sue Marks (Hupp). He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Josh truly loved what he did and took tremendous pride in his work. He was a master of his craft, respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. Josh is survived by his two amazing daughters, Katelyn Sue Marks and Samantha Anne Marks (Jadyn England), and his beloved granddaughter, Evelyn Grace England, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by loving family members, cherished aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends who became family over the years. Josh loved life and lived it to the fullest. He found his greatest peace outdoors, whether fishing from his kayak, walking the fields while hunting, or simply soaking in the quiet of nature. An exceptional marksman and outdoorsman, he was truly in his element in the woods or on the water. He will be remembered most for his steady kindness, his loyalty as a friend, his ability to make any day feel like a celebration, and his unwavering devotion to his daughters. Being their father was the role he treasured most. In keeping with Josh’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, a big party just the way he would have wanted will be held at a later date. Family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of a man who believed life was meant to be lived fully and joyfully. Josh’s presence was larger than life, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements. www.bopethomasfuneralhome.com
